Mumbai, May 22 (NationPress) The IPL 2025 emerging talents Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre have secured a spot in India’s U19 squad for the forthcoming tour of England, showcasing their remarkable performances during the current tournament for their teams.
Mhatre will captain the team on this tour, which includes a 50-over warm-up match, followed by a five-match Youth One-Day series and two Multi-Day matches against England U19 scheduled from June 24 to July 23. Abhigyan Kundu from Mumbai will serve as Mhatre’s deputy.
Suryavanshi has been in the spotlight after becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history at the tender age of 14. He was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore during last year’s auction. In just seven matches, this teenager has scored 252 runs, including a century and a half-century.
Conversely, Mhatre was signed as an injury replacement for Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad mid-season. The 17-year-old batter has made a significant impression in the yellow jersey, contributing 206 runs over six games, highlighted by a stellar 94 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Both players were instrumental in India’s runners-up finish at the U19 Asia Cup held in the UAE last year.
Other notable selections include Vihaan Malhotra from Punjab and Mohammed Enaan, a leg-spinner from Kerala, both of whom showcased their talent during the 2024 youth series against Australia conducted in Chennai and Puducherry.
