Adam Hollioake Takes Charge as Head Coach of Kent Men's Team

Canterbury (UK), Dec 9 (NationPress) — Former England captain Adam Hollioake has been named the head coach of Kent men’s team until at least the end of the 2027 season, as announced by the English county club on Monday.

The 53-year-old Hollioake had an illustrious playing career lasting 16 years, during which he captained Surrey to nine trophies, led England in ODI cricket, and was recognized as a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2003.

After earning 39 caps for England, the former all-rounder hung up his boots in 2007. He had a stint as head coach for the Hong Kong national team during the 2000 ACC Trophy, and returned to coaching in 2017 as the head coach of the Boost Defenders in Afghanistan’s Shpageeza Cricket League.

His coaching credentials also include roles with England Lions as a fielding coach, with Queensland Cricket as a pathway and batting coach, and serving as a batting coach during Pakistan’s tour of Australia in 2023, prior to his appointment as assistant coach at Surrey for the 2024 domestic season.

Upon joining Kent as men’s head coach, Hollioake expressed: “I’m honoured to be appointed as the head coach of Kent. It’s an incredible opportunity for me to work with a talented squad and to be part of a county with such a rich history of success. County cricket is something that holds a special place in my heart, and this is an opportunity I simply could not refuse.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook, stated: “Adam has demonstrated throughout his playing and coaching career that he possesses exceptional leadership qualities and a winning mentality, which played a crucial role in our decision to pursue a new direction after a comprehensive search for a new men’s head coach.

“We welcome Adam into the Kent Cricket Family and eagerly anticipate his guidance of our men’s side as we head into the upcoming season,” said Simon Cook.
