New Delhi, Jan 15 (NationPress) Amid reports that all defective medals from the 2024 Paris Olympics will be replaced following numerous complaints regarding the medals' deterioration and tarnishing, Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat's bronze medal's color has begun to fade. However, the wrestler has yet to submit a complaint concerning this issue.

During his Olympic debut at Paris 2024, Aman emerged as the youngest Indian medalist at the Summer Games, securing the bronze in men’s 57 kg freestyle wrestling.

According to reports, Monnaie de Paris, the entity responsible for producing the medals for the 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, announced it would replace all damaged medals upon athletes' requests following numerous complaints about the medals deteriorating.

Nevertheless, Aman has not formally lodged a complaint for a medal replacement. A source close to the Indian wrestler informed IANS, "The bronze medal that Aman Sehrawat won in Paris appears defective. The color has begun to fade. We have not yet submitted an official complaint to the IOC."

As per information from the French site La Lettre, over 100 defective medals have already been returned by athletes to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee (Cojop) within a mere four months.

Each medal from Paris 2024, designed by Chaumet, a luxury French jeweler, is embellished with a hexagonal fragment of iron sourced from France's most iconic landmark: the Eiffel Tower. A 0.6-ounce piece of puddle iron is situated at the center of each medal.

Shortly after the last Summer Games concluded, numerous athletes took to social media to express concerns that their medals had begun to lose their luster.

The report further indicated that Paris organizers are communicating with the committees representing athletes who have filed complaints, and the replacement process is expected to commence in the upcoming weeks.
