Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 15 (NationPress) After an outstanding season where she achieved an impressive 77/10 win/loss record, India's promising squash talent Anahat Singh aims to maintain her success in the upcoming two seasons. She is excited to display her talent when squash makes its inaugural appearance in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
At the Golden Jubilee National Convention 2026 of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI), Anahat reflected on her participation in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, describing them as unforgettable experiences. She believes that these experiences will be invaluable as she heads to the Olympics.
"This marks the first occasion that squash will feature in the Olympics. Competing at such a prestigious event and representing India is an unparalleled experience compared to any tour events I participate in. Playing for India at the Commonwealth and Asian Games has been among the highlights of my life," she remarked.
Regarding her stellar record in the 2025 season, Anahat stated, "Honestly, I'm not entirely sure how I achieved that (77-10 Win-Loss record). My focus has primarily been on practice. I don’t dwell too much on my record or scores; it's more of a bonus to hear about it. It motivates me to improve."
Anahat expressed her enjoyment of being around fellow squash players both on and off the court. She acknowledged that she has learned significantly from senior teammates like Joshna Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal, and Saurav Ghoshal.
"When asked about my experiences in squash, whether on or off the court, I've learned the most and had the most fun with my teammates. Spending time with seasoned players like Joshna, Dipika, and Saurav has been truly inspiring, and I consider myself fortunate to have them by my side. Playing in the Commonwealth Games in India would be an incredible experience, especially in front of my family and friends," Anahat added.
She also acknowledged the support she has received from corporates, the government, and the nation, which has been pivotal in her ability to represent the country. Anahat expressed her desire to give back by winning medals in major competitions and making the nation proud.
"Competing in India presents a unique experience compared to other locations. The opportunity to do so would be amazing. I truly believe I wouldn't be here without the backing of corporates, the government, and the entire nation. I am grateful for this chance and hope to reciprocate by bringing home medals and making my country proud," she concluded.
