New Delhi, April 19 (NationPress) The former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher praised Arshdeep Singh, the pacer for Punjab Kings, for his exceptional leadership of the bowling unit and for claiming the vital wickets of Phil Salt and Virat Kohli during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.

Arshdeep concluded his spell with impressive figures of 2-23 in three overs, while teammates Marco Jansen, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Harpreet Brar also took two wickets each in a rain-affected match limited to 14 overs. The performance from RCB was disappointing, except for Tim David, who hit a quick half-century off 26 balls, as they were restricted to 95/9.

In response, Nehal Wadhera made a significant contribution with a brisk 33 runs off 19 balls, featuring three sixes and three fours, guiding Punjab to its fifth victory of the season. This outcome left RCB still searching for their first win at home this season.

Boucher commented, "We discussed how Arshdeep matched up well against Phil Salt, and he certainly proved that tonight. I appreciated how he adjusted his length—when a full length wasn't effective, he switched to a hard length, and it paid off. He effectively led the bowling unit, secured wickets, and the entire attack bowled with aggression. Shreyas Iyer's captaincy was also commendable," Boucher shared on JioHotstar.

"They will be delighted with this victory, especially following the tense finish in their previous match. At one point, Ricky may have feared it would come down to the last moments again. However, Nehal Wadhera stepped up, and as we often see, when he plays, he plays freely. His striking has been excellent lately and he closed out what might have been another nail-biter," he added.

The Punjab Kings will face RCB again in the return fixture at the New PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh, on Sunday.
