Yupia, May 7 (NationPress) The Treasurer of the All India Football Federation and Honourary Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association, Mr. Kipa Ajay, warmly welcomed the delegates from the South Asian Football Federation to the city in anticipation of the upcoming SAFF U19 Championship.

This championship, commencing on May 9, will feature six teams from South Asia competing for the title of sub-continental champions in the U19 category, with the final set for May 18.

India is placed in Group B, kicking off their journey against Sri Lanka on Friday, May 9, at the Golden Jubilee Stadium. Nepal is also in their group, with their match on May 13. Group A consists of Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Maldives.

Mr. Kipa Ajay stated, “I am delighted to welcome the SAFF delegates to Arunachal Pradesh and express my gratitude for hosting the SAFF U19 Championship in our state. We aspire to conduct this tournament in a magnificent and successful way that instills pride in everyone involved.”

He added, “With the support of our Chief Minister, Shri Pema Khandu ji, who is very passionate about football, we have prepared thoroughly to meet the demands of this international tournament. We learned valuable lessons from our experience hosting the Santosh Trophy in 2024 and will apply those insights to overcome previous challenges.”

SAFF General Secretary, Shri Purushottam Kattel, praised the efforts of the APFA and expressed hopes for a “special” tournament.
