Munich, June 14 (NationPress) The Indian duo of Arya Borse and Arjun Babuta showcased an exceptional display of skill, overpowering China’s Zifei Wang and Lihao Sheng with a score of 17-7, thereby securing the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event at the ISSF World Cup on Saturday.
The bronze medal was claimed by Norway’s Jeanette Hegg Duestad and Jon-Hermann Hegg, who managed a tight 16-14 victory against the USA’s Sagen Maddalena and Peter Matthew Fiori.
Demonstrating remarkable prowess in the final, the Indian shooters left little opportunity for the Chinese team to respond. Earlier, Borse and Babuta had qualified for the gold medal match with a score of 635.2, just behind Wang and Sheng’s 635.9, which also stands as the world record for qualifications.
In the qualification rounds, Babuta notched up 317.7 while Borse scored 317.5, finishing strongly. The other Indian pair, Elavenil Valarivan and Ankush Jadhav, secured sixth place in qualifications with a total of 631.8.
This year, Borse had previously partnered with Rudrankksh Patil to earn a silver medal in the same event at the World Cup held in Lima, Peru.
