Guwahati, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has taken immediate action by suspending four players who have previously represented Assam, following serious allegations of corrupt practices and attempts to influence certain members of the current Assam team.
The players in question—Amit Sinha, Ishan Ahmed, Aman Tripathi, and Abhishek Thakuri—are accused of trying to sway those competing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, which took place in Lucknow from November 26 to December 8.
In response to these allegations, the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the BCCI has launched an investigation. Additionally, the Assam Cricket Association is pursuing legal action regarding this incident.
According to a release from the ACA, "prima facie, there seems to be involvement of the four players in significant misconduct, jeopardizing the integrity of the sport."
To prevent further escalation, the players have been suspended and are prohibited from participating in any tournaments or matches organized by the Assam Cricket Association, district units, or affiliated clubs, as well as engaging in any cricket-related duties, such as officiating or coaching.
The suspension will remain effective until the investigation concludes and any further decisions are made by the Association.
The ACA has also mandated all district associations to strictly comply with this order and to inform clubs and cricket academies under their jurisdiction of the necessary actions.
In its release, the association reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity and spirit of cricket, vowing to uphold the highest standards of transparency, discipline, and ethical conduct.
Furthermore, the Assam Cricket Association has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Crime Branch in Guwahati against the four players on December 12, 2025.
