New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to unveil the schedule for the initial 20 days of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 by March 12, as confirmed by secretary Devajit Saikia. The 19th edition of the IPL is scheduled to take place from March 28 to May 31, following a previously proposed window of March 26 to May 30.
"We are planning to announce the IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. Currently, our focus is on releasing the IPL schedule for the first 20 days," Saikia informed IANS on Tuesday. It has been noted that the remaining fixtures will be revealed later, as the BCCI aims to sidestep any potential conflicts with assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu.
In the meantime, teams have already commenced their pre-season training. The Chennai Super Kings, who have clinched the title five times, began their preparations on March 1 at their High-Performance Centre in Navalur, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni among those participating.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the reigning champions, conducted a brief training camp at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on February 10. Meanwhile, the 2022 champions, the Gujarat Titans, held practice sessions twice at the Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Nathdwara.
The Punjab Kings began training in Abu Dhabi in early February and are currently holding a practice camp in Dharamsala. The Sunrisers Hyderabad, winners in 2016, launched their training camp on March 1 with their domestic players. Additionally, the Mumbai Indians, who have won the tournament five times, have also initiated their preparations for the upcoming season.
The Rajasthan Royals, champions in 2008, are anticipated to gather for a practice camp in Jaipur starting March 15. The Kolkata Knight Riders, who have won three titles, will kick off their pre-season camp on March 18. The Delhi Capitals recently conducted a session in Hyderabad and are expected to hold another in New Delhi, while the Lucknow Super Giants had previously held a training session in Lucknow.
