New Delhi, Feb 25 (NationPress) Following India's impressive six-wicket victory against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia praised the team's performance and urged them to avoid complacency as they prepare for significant upcoming matches.

Virat Kohli's remarkable unbeaten century propelled India to success in 42.3 overs while chasing down 242 runs. His innings featured seven boundaries, showcasing his exquisite cover drives that reminded fans of his former glory.

During the match, Kohli achieved the milestone of being the fastest player to reach 14,000 ODI runs and eclipsed Mohammad Azharuddin's record for the most catches by an Indian fielder in ODIs. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award for his dual achievements.

On the bowling front, Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya recorded impressive figures of 2-31 in his eight overs.

"There’s no room for complacency... we must focus on the crucial matches ahead, including the semi-final and final. The entire team is in great form; Rohit Sharma is scoring runs, Virat Kohli hit a fantastic century, and Hardik Pandya bowled excellently. We are thrilled with our victory over Pakistan. Approximately 70 percent of the audience at the stadium in Dubai supported Team India, creating an electric atmosphere. Everyone is immensely proud of the team," Saikia told IANS.

After securing consecutive wins against Bangladesh and Pakistan in Group A, the Rohit Sharma-led squad will face New Zealand in their last group match on March 2.

Both India and New Zealand have advanced to the semi-finals from Group A, while hosts Pakistan and Bangladesh will be eliminated early after consecutive losses in the tournament.

India and New Zealand last clashed in an ODI during the 2023 World Cup semi-final, where the Men in Blue triumphed by 70 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to reach the final.

Meanwhile, South Africa, Australia, England, and Afghanistan are competing for two semi-final spots from Group B. Both South Africa and Australia kicked off their campaigns with victories against Afghanistan and England, respectively.
