Bengaluru, March 1 (NationPress) Over 60 young tennis enthusiasts from Bengaluru had an extraordinary chance to engage with experts during a tennis clinic at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) Tennis Stadium, coinciding with the 2025 Bengaluru Open. They interacted with 38th National Games gold medallists Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha and SD Prajwal Dev, alongside the current edition’s doubles finalists Blake Bayldon and Matthew Christopher Romios, as well as coach Bo Trays of USA’s Brandon Holt, providing the young athletes with invaluable knowledge about the sport.

The clinic featured a Q&A session, live drills, and practical coaching where the youth learned about fitness, nutrition, training regimes, and match preparation, all while showcasing their skills in volleys and baseline shots.

Poonacha expressed his enthusiasm regarding the event and the rising status of tennis in India, stating, “It was truly rewarding to represent and secure a medal for Karnataka in the National Games, and I’ve observed that the level of young players is improving significantly. They are better equipped. Witnessing so many eager kids here today striving to learn and enhance their skills is a promising sign for the future.”

Tournament Director Sunil Yajaman emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting the sport.

“It’s fantastic to witness the zeal among young players. Events like this highlight the enthusiasm kids have for tennis and signify the sport’s increasing popularity in India.
