BGT 2024-25: Indian Squad Prepares in Adelaide for Brisbane Test

Brisbane, Dec 10 (NationPress) Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and captain Rohit Sharma were among the players who took to the nets in Adelaide as they prepare for the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, which is set to begin on December 14 in Brisbane.

A video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on X showcased young talents Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, and Rishabh Pant refining their batting techniques against Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, Akash Deep, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja during the practice sessions.

As the attention shifts back to the red ball, the visitors aim to overcome the disappointment of their previous outing in Adelaide, where they suffered a significant 10-wicket defeat in the pink-ball Test.

The Indian batters struggled at the Adelaide Oval, being bowled out for scores of 180 and 175, which allowed Australia to stage a strong comeback in the series after their earlier 295-run loss in Perth.

For the Indian side, Nitish Kumar Reddy emerged as the highest scorer in both innings, notching up identical tallies of 42. In Brisbane, senior players, particularly Kohli and Rohit, alongside Gill and Pant, will be crucial in amassing runs to keep their aspirations for the World Test Championship (WTC) final alive.

In terms of bowling, pace leader Jasprit Bumrah did not receive adequate support from Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana in Adelaide, failing to penetrate Australia’s middle order, as Travis Head scored a remarkable 140, propelling them to 337 in their first innings.

Conversely, the Australian bowling attack, led by captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Scott Boland, excelled with the pink ball, claiming all 20 wickets in the match. Starc took eight wickets while Cummins and Boland secured seven and five, respectively.

With the series tied at 1-1, India seeks to rebound strongly to take the lead and disrupt Australia’s momentum on their home turf.
