BGT: Konstas Aims to Continue His Aggressive Approach Against Bumrah

Melbourne, Dec 26 (NationPress) Australian batsman Sam Konstas, who made history as the youngest opener to debut for Australia during the Boxing Day Test against India, is optimistic about targeting Indian bowling star Jasprit Bumrah after successfully executing ramp shots against one of the world's finest bowlers.
The 19-year-old Konstas delivered an eye-catching performance, scoring 60 runs off 65 balls and boldly confronting the Indian bowling lineup with his audacious techniques.
In the seventh over, the Aussie sensation took on Bumrah with ramp shots, resulting in scores of four, six, and four. Remarkably, Bumrah had not been hit for a six in his last 25 Tests over the past four years before Konstas managed to do so twice at the MCG on Thursday.
"It’s quite surreal, look at the turnout, I’m just trying to play with some freedom and back myself and hopefully I can get a few more,” Konstas shared with Fox Cricket during a drinks break.
When questioned about whether his ramp shots against Bumrah were planned and if tensions were rising between deliveries, he replied, "When the ball was coming down. I’ll look to keep targeting him and hopefully he might come back on but we’ll see what happens."
Konstas’ first half-century on debut — achieved in just 52 balls — ranks as the third-fastest in the history of Australian Test cricket, following only Adam Gilchrist and Ashton Agar.
He formed a partnership of 89 runs for the first wicket alongside Usman Khawaja before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja.
Former Indian allrounder Irfan Pathan praised the young Australian, stating, "What I’m seeing with Sam Konstas is fearlessness & borderline stupidity. But that’s what Australia wanted. They wanted someone to face Jasprit Bumrah in a different way," he posted on X.
