This recognition comes after a remarkable debut season in north London, where her exceptional performance garnered the admiration of her peers who voted for her as the top player.
The talented midfielder outperformed her teammate Alessia Russo, alongside other nominees including Erin Cuthbert (Chelsea), Mary Fowler (Manchester City), Yui Hasegawa (Manchester City), and Phallon Tullis-Joyce (Manchester United).
With this accolade, Mariona becomes the third player from Arsenal to receive this esteemed award, following in the footsteps of Kim Little in 2011/12 and Vivianne Miedema in 2018/19.
During the last season, Mariona netted nine goals in 21 Women’s Super League matches and scored eight in 15 Women’s Champions League games, contributing significantly to the team's success in reaching the final in Lisbon. This marked her third consecutive Champions League title and her fourth overall.
In addition to her impressive club performance, she also recorded two goals and two assists in the Women’s League Cup, and mirrored her club success by achieving the same statistics for Spain at Euro 2025, leading her country to the final.
In other news, Olivia Smith, who joined the Gunners from Liverpool this summer, was honored with the Young Player of the Year award for her notable contributions last season.
Smith, in her inaugural season in England after transferring from Sporting Lisbon, scored seven goals in 20 WSL matches, helping her team finish seventh.

Mariona Caldentey, Emily Fox, Kim Little, and Alessia Russo were all recognized in the WSL's best XI, selected through votes from female players across the league.
