Mumbai, March 15 (NationPress) The young left-arm spinner N. Shree Charani has entered the playing eleven as Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in the 2025 Women's Premier League (WPL) final at Brabourne Stadium this Saturday.
A victory for DC, in their third WPL final, would mark their first championship win. Conversely, a win for MI would secure them their second WPL title, following their first victory at this venue in 2023, where they also overcame DC.
DC is playing their inaugural match of this tournament in Mumbai after an eight-day hiatus, while MI is participating in their fourth match this week. After winning the toss, DC captain Meg Lanning announced that Charani would replace pacer Titas Sadhu in the lineup, marking the first instance of the team chasing in a WPL final.
“The conditions are expected to remain constant, which has been beneficial for us throughout the tournament. We’ve had ample time to recharge, and we’re looking forward to tonight as a great opportunity. We need to perform well, and hopefully, it will be our best game,” she stated.
MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur mentioned that her playing eleven remains unchanged from the 47-run victory over the Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator. “We were also hoping to bowl first. However, I believe any outcome works in our favor. Historically, the team batting first has emerged victorious in the last four games. Maintaining balance and focusing on the moment has been effective for us,” she explained.
“They’ve played exceptional cricket throughout this tournament. The past week has been successful for us. We have many wonderful memories from the inaugural season. Today is a fresh start, a lovely day, and we aim to enjoy our game,” she added.
