Chelsea's Coach Maresca Predicts Manchester City Will Contend for Title

London, Dec 24 (NationPress) Despite Manchester City’s recent challenges that have seen them slide from the summit of the Premier League to seventh place, trailing teams such as Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa, Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca is optimistic that the defending champions will re-enter the title race as the season progresses.
"It's almost halfway, so the table reflects the teams and their current standings. Liverpool have performed exceptionally well since the beginning. The squad is familiar with such moments, which is crucial. We are pleased to be in our current position," he remarked.
"I believe Manchester City will ultimately be in contention. They are experiencing something unprecedented, facing a new injury after each match. It is a very difficult situation," Maresca stated during a press conference.
After concluding the previous season in sixth place, Chelsea has made significant strides under Maresca's leadership, currently sitting in second place, just four points behind league leaders Liverpool. Despite the team’s consistent strong performances, Maresca insists that they are not in the title race, describing the situation as the ‘reality of the situation’.
"For me, this is the reality, not about pressure. I would welcome that kind of pressure. I express that we are not in the race because that is my understanding of the situation. The primary goal is to keep improving and winning matches," he added.
"We are exceeding our expectations regarding our style of play and points. Our main focus is on enhancing our players' development and improving the team as a whole," Maresca concluded.
