Dubai, March 21 (NationPress) The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 has shattered significant viewership records in India, with TV ratings reaching the highest point for a multi-nation cricket tournament. The eight-team event achieved a remarkable 23 percent increase in ratings compared to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on television.
The live telecast accumulated an astounding total watch time of 137 billion minutes on Star Sports (TV) and 110 billion minutes on JioHotstar (Digital), as stated in a release by the ICC.
The final match featuring India and New Zealand on March 9 in Dubai recorded a peak concurrency of 122 million live viewers on TV and 61 million on JioHotstar, marking a historic achievement for digital cricket viewership.
The ICC further reported that the final also ranked as the second-highest rated ODI in television history (excluding ICC Cricket World Cup matches) with 230 million viewers tuning in for the live broadcast, accumulating 53 billion minutes of watch time across both TV and Digital platforms.
The highly anticipated match between long-standing rivals India and Pakistan became one of the most viewed ODI encounters in India, amassing over 26 billion minutes of watch time on linear TV, according to figures provided by the Broadcast Audience Research Council.
This remarkable event achieved a notable 10.8 percent higher television rating than the India-Pakistan match during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 held in Ahmedabad, which garnered 19.5 billion linear viewing minutes compared to the 26.5 billion minutes for the Champions Trophy match.
The thrilling clash, held in front of a packed crowd in Dubai on February 23, was watched by a record 206 million people on linear TV.
