Adelaide, Dec 16 (NationPress) Australia’s captain Pat Cummins and seasoned spinner Nathan Lyon are set to rejoin the national squad for the pivotal third Test at Adelaide Oval.

Among the changes, Michael Neser finds himself unfortunate to miss out after an impressive performance in the previous match, while fellow bowler Brendan Doggett also steps aside.

This match signifies Cummins' first Test since his appearance against the West Indies earlier this year. He has expressed full readiness, indicating no limitations on his bowling capacity.

"I am fit and ready to play. I've been bowling at full intensity for a while. If I had played in Brisbane, my overs would have been limited, but this week, I’ll treat it just like any other Test match," Cummins stated.

Unfortunately, there is no spot for veteran opener Usman Khawaja, as selectors opted to continue with Travis Head and Jake Weatherald as the opening batsmen. Josh Inglis retains his wicketkeeper position and will bat at No. 7.

Cummins emphasized that Khawaja's international career is not concluded despite his absence from the third Ashes Test. "He’s a true team player. He’ll do whatever is needed for the team," Cummins remarked in Adelaide on Tuesday. "It’s not just Uzzie; players like Beau Webster have also missed out on these Tests. Neser is coming off a five-wicket haul, and Doggett performed well in the first two Tests. There’s disappointment among the players, but their support has been commendable. We need a strong squad to win an Ashes series, and they’ve all been exceptional," he added.
