New Delhi, Nov 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the people of India following the official announcement that India has been awarded the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Amdavad (Ahmedabad) designated as the host city. This significant announcement was made during the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) General Assembly held in Glasgow on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Modi stated, "This momentous occasion has placed India firmly on the global sporting map. Embracing the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, we are excited to celebrate these historic games with unparalleled enthusiasm, and we eagerly await the global community's arrival!" The organizing committee of Amdavad 2030 will collaborate with Commonwealth Sport along with international federations to finalize a lineup of 15–17 sports in line with the recent Sport Programme Review. Additional sports such as cricket T20, shooting, hockey, wrestling, judo, rugby sevens, and 3x3 basketball are also being considered, along with the possibility of introducing two new sports suggested by the host.

Ahmedabad will be the second Indian city and the third in Asia to host the Commonwealth Games. The subsequent edition will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2026, following the Birmingham games in 2022.
