London, April 15 (NationPress) A stunning second-half performance by Ousmane Dembele propelled Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-0 victory over Liverpool during the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final at Anfield. This triumph marked a commanding 4-0 aggregate win, allowing PSG to advance to the semifinals for the third consecutive season and for the sixth time in the club's history.

As the reigning European champions, PSG are set to face either FC Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the upcoming semifinals.

The match began with PSG looking threatening, as Vitinha (4’) and Dembele (10’) tested goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. Liverpool responded quickly, but Matvey Safonov showcased his aerial prowess (16’).

Fifteen minutes later, Safonov was again called into action, making an incredible save against Milos Kerkez, followed by a spectacular block from captain Marquinhos to thwart Virgil van Dijk (31’). Despite the intense pressure from Liverpool and their coach Arne Slot, PSG held firm, with both teams heading into halftime at 0-0.

In the second half, Liverpool intensified their attack, bringing in Cody Gakpo, who quickly tested Safonov with a shot (49’).

The pressure mounted on PSG, but neither Ryan Gravenberch (55’) nor Kerkez (57’) could convert their chances. When Liverpool finally managed a shot on target, Safonov was ready to save Rio Ngumoha (71’). PSG stood their ground and weathered the storm.

In a swift counter-attack, Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia set up Dembele on the edge of the box, where he unleashed a magnificent left-footed strike into the net.

With Liverpool resigned to their fate, they continued to press without genuinely threatening PSG's defense. At the opposite end, Kvaratskhelia and Barcola collaborated once more, allowing Dembele to finish off the match with another clinical strike, sealing PSG's victory at 0-2 (90+1).

Point of View

Effectively overcoming the challenges posed by Liverpool at Anfield. The team's ability to maintain composure under pressure and execute counter-attacks effectively underscored their status as reigning champions.
