Hyderabad, June 30 (NationPress) World Championships and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Nitu Ghanghas triumphed over Railways’ Manju Rani to secure her place in the finals of the Elite Women’s Boxing Tournament in the 48kg category on Monday, paving the way for a title showdown with Chanchal (SAI N). World Champion Saweety Boora also exhibited an impressive performance in the 80kg semifinal, decisively defeating Babita Bisht from All India Police with a score of 5:0 at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium.
Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain advanced to the 75kg final after dominating Sneha from Uttar Pradesh with a first-round stoppage (RSC). Earlier, two-time World Champion Nikhat Zareen shone once again on her home ground, defeating V. Lakshaya with a clean 5:0 decision, setting the stage for a 51kg final clash against Jyoti (RSPB).
