Madrid, March 20 (NationPress) In a remarkable turnaround, Real Betis overcame a first-leg setback to secure their place in the Europa League quarterfinals with a decisive 4-0 victory at home against Panathinaikos, advancing 4-1 on aggregate.

After suffering a 1-0 defeat in Athens last week, Betis leveled the aggregate score early when Cucho Hernandez struck the crossbar, and Aitor Ruibal was quick to capitalize on the rebound.

The Spanish team maintained significant control throughout the match, with Antony coming close before Betis increased their lead in an unusual manner just before halftime.

Ezzalzouli, believing he was offside, kicked the ball high in frustration, but play continued. The ball fell to Sofyan Amrabat, whose shot from distance took a slight deflection, leaving Alban Lafont, the goalkeeper for Panathinaikos, wrong-footed.

Betis furthered their lead in the 54th minute when Ruibal assisted Hernandez, and Antony capped off the scoring in the 66th minute following another powerful run down the left by Ezzalzouli.

Celta Vigo also secured their spot in the quarterfinals, defeating Lyon 2-0 to win 3-1 on aggregate.

Lyon faced serious challenges after Moussa Niakhaté was sent off in the 19th minute, and they fell behind shortly after the hour mark when Javi Rueda, who scored the opener in the prior 1-1 draw in Vigo, directed Hugo Álvarez's cutback into the net.

Substitute Ferran Jutgla sealed the win with a composed finish late in the match, and Nicolás Tagliafico was also sent off, leaving Lyon with just nine players.

In another match, a stunning goal from Victor Froholdt along with outstanding saves from Diogo Costa allowed Porto to advance to the quarterfinals with a 4-1 aggregate victory over Stuttgart. Costa had already made several crucial saves, including two from Chris Fuhrich, when William Gomes scored against the run of play. After more impressive saves from Costa, Froholdt delivered a brilliant shot into the top corner, while Nikolas Nartey's late red card added to Stuttgart's woes.
