FCA Secretary-General Rajeev Mehta Aims for a New Era of Transparency in Fencing

Tashkent, Dec 6 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking achievement for both Asian and Indian fencing, Rajeev Mehta has been elected as the Secretary-General of the Fencing Confederation of Asia (FCA) during the organization's General Assembly held on Sunday.

Mehta, who currently occupies the role of Secretary-General of the Fencing Association of India, is the first Indian to attain this esteemed continental leadership role.

His election as Secretary-General marks a significant advancement for Indian sports governance on a continental level, emphasizing the increasing influence of Indian sports officials in global sporting organizations.

With 46 member nations represented in the FCA, Mehta brings a rich background in sports administration to his new position. His notable history includes serving as the President of the Fencing Association of India from 2017 to 2021, alongside his role as Secretary-General of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

Mehta has been crucial in securing sponsorships for the IOA and has been instrumental in initiating prize money awards for medalists in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games. He has also strengthened relationships with state Olympic Associations and National Federations by providing financial backing, further promoting the overall development of sports in India.

"I firmly believe that building strong collaborations with both internal and external stakeholders will enable us to gain better leverage for the progress of the FCA. Our objective is to usher in a new era of collaboration, transparency, and openness in fencing," Mehta remarked after assuming his responsibilities.

Mehta's agenda prioritizes several critical initiatives: empowering national federations with equal support and opportunities, professionalizing the FCA's operations, boosting organizational revenue, enhancing the sport's credibility, and elevating competition standards throughout Asia.
