New Delhi, Oct 14 (NationPress) Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian opener and current head coach of the men's team, celebrated his 44th birthday on Tuesday, prompting a wave of warm wishes from the cricket community! To add to the festivities, India achieved a remarkable Test series whitewash against the West Indies, with the second Test victory occurring at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which features a stand named in Gambhir's honor.

From 2003 to 2016, Gambhir was one of India's premier opening batsmen, creating a dynamic partnership with Virender Sehwag.

He scored 393 runs in nine innings during the 2011 World Cup, making him India's second-highest run-scorer, which included four half-centuries. His pivotal knock of 97 runs in the final against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium played a crucial role in India chasing down 275 runs, ultimately securing the coveted trophy after a 28-year wait.
