Monza, Sep 6 (NationPress) Pierre Gasly has pledged his long-term commitment to Alpine by signing a contract extension that guarantees his participation with the French racing team until at least the conclusion of the 2028 season.
The 29-year-old made the switch to Alpine prior to the 2023 racing season, achieving two podium finishes and significantly contributing to the team’s sixth-place finish in the previous season's Teams’ Championship.
“I’m excited to secure my long-term future with Alpine. As a Frenchman, driving for a French automotive brand fills me with pride. Since my arrival in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the ideal place for my future,” stated Gasly.
“The support from Flavio and the dedication from Francois towards our Formula 1 project, along with the fantastic team in Enstone, made this decision easy. I am eager to be part of our shared vision: to win races and World Championships. We are all in this together, and I am excited to continue this remarkable journey,” he added.
Although Gasly's previous agreement was set to expire at the end of the next season, both parties were enthusiastic about extending the contract by an additional two years, finalizing the deal just ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
Alpine Executive Advisor Briatore praised Gasly’s contributions thus far. “Since my return to the team, I have emphasized the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula One Team.
“We are well-prepared for the upcoming era of Formula 1 starting in 2026, and having our lead driver confirmed ensures we are looking toward the future.
“Pierre has proven to be a tremendous asset during this challenging phase. His attitude, commitment, and skill have impressed me greatly, and we anticipate continuing this partnership for many years to come,” concluded Briatore.
