New Delhi, Nov 15 (NationPress) Sanju Samson has made a significant move by transferring from Rajasthan Royals (RR) to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. He expressed a sincere farewell to his previous team after a remarkable 10-year journey with the franchise based in Jaipur.
With an impressive record of 177 IPL matches, Samson stands out as one of the league’s seasoned players. Since his debut in 2013, he has largely been associated with RR, except for two seasons in 2016 and 2017 when he played for Delhi Capitals. This transition marks the third team in his IPL career.
“Life is fleeting. I gave my all to this franchise, relished some unforgettable matches, forged lifelong friendships, and regarded everyone at the franchise as family. However, the time has come for me to move on. I will forever cherish my experiences at @rajasthanroyals,” Samson shared on his Instagram account.
In the meantime, CSK has traded their veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to RR, along with England’s Sam Curran, who will now don the pink jersey. Jadeja, who has spent the majority of his IPL career with CSK, is returning to the franchise where he initially started his league journey.
Reflecting on his time with the Royals, Samson expressed his aspiration to be close to MS Dhoni, conversing with him and gaining insights into his game strategy.
“As a young cricketer from India, being in the presence of Mahi bhai was a dream. Every time I was set to face CSK, I longed to engage with him, to learn from his approach. Just being around him felt surreal,” Samson remarked in a video shared by Star Sports on X.
“When I began my IPL career, I made it a point to meet him after a match. I encountered a crowd wanting to speak to him and finally managed to connect in my eighth IPL year. I contributed to a victory against CSK and earned the POTM award. That moment was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. It has been a truly blessed experience, including working together on various projects,” he added.
