Manchester, April 4 (NationPress) Head coach Pep Guardiola expressed that today is a heartbreaking moment, as midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has announced he will part ways with Manchester City at the conclusion of this season.

Since his arrival from Bundesliga's Wolfsburg in 2015, De Bruyne has been a cornerstone in establishing City's dominance over the last decade. Guardiola acknowledged his significant contribution, stating that it would be inconceivable to envision the club's achievements without De Bruyne's presence.

“Today is a heart-wrenching day. What he has given us in terms of humanity and, of course, his influence on our triumphs over the past ten years - it is unthinkable without him,” Guardiola remarked during the press briefing.

“It’s a bittersweet moment because a part of our team is departing. The same feeling was present when Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, or David Silva left; these players who made such profound impacts - it’s a heartbreaking day,” he added.

“We still have 10 matches left, and hopefully 11, including six at home, where we can cherish these moments with our fans, and I am certain he will receive the appreciation and love he truly deserves,” Guardiola continued.

De Bruyne has made 413 appearances for City, netting 106 goals, becoming the first City midfielder since Colin Bell to achieve this milestone.

The 33-year-old has secured an impressive 19 major trophies with City, which includes six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, one UEFA Champions League, one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, and three Community Shields.

On Friday, Kevin shared the announcement on his personal Instagram account.

“Football has brought me to all of you, to this city, this club, and these people... who have given me everything. Pursuing my dreams, I never realized this journey would transform my life. I had no alternative but to give everything back! And look at what we’ve achieved - we won it all.

“Whether we want to or not, it’s time to say farewell. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele, and I are incredibly thankful for what this place has meant for our family. ‘Manchester’ will always be a part of our kids’ passports - and more importantly, in each of our hearts,” his post concluded.
