London, Aug 17 (NationPress) Crystal Palace's head coach Oliver Glasner stated that there is no reason to exclude Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze from starting, despite ongoing speculation about their departures this summer.
The chairman of Palace, Steve Parish, has confirmed that Guehi is available for transfer, while Eze is reportedly attracting interest from North London clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
“Marc (Guehi) and Eze have demonstrated excellent form in training this week. There’s absolutely no reason for them not to start. Don’t trust everything you read in the media,” Glasner told Sky Sports.
For Palace, the only adjustment from their victory at Wembley is a necessary one, as Daichi Kamada is unavailable due to injury, as Glasner initially disclosed in his pre-match press briefing.
Will Hughes is set to return to the midfield, teaming up with Adam Wharton.
New signings Walter Benítez and Borna Sosa are available to Glasner from the bench and could make their Premier League debuts if called upon.
Guehi will captain the side as he faces his former club, with Chris Richards and Maxence Lacroix in defense. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is back on the substitutes' bench, joined by other attacking options like Romain Esse and Odsonne Edouard.
“This is a unique and talented squad. The players have shown great commitment and ambition this week,” Glasner remarked.
Meanwhile, for Chelsea, summer recruit Jamie Gittens is poised to make his Premier League debut.
The Blues will host the current FA Cup and Community Shield champions at Stamford Bridge.
Robert Sanchez resumes his role in goal, supported by defenders Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Josh Acheampong, and Marc Cucurella, with Levi Colwill out due to knee surgery and Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile also unavailable.
Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will start in midfield, with Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, and Gittens in the forward positions supporting Joao Pedro.
New summer additions Jorrel Hato, Dario Essugo, Estevao, and Liam Delap are included among the substitutes.
