Hamilton Reflects on Reunion with Trainer Cullen Ahead of Ferrari Season

New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has shared his thoughts on reuniting with his former trainer Angela Cullen as he prepares for his eagerly awaited debut season with Ferrari.

Hamilton described Cullen's return as “truly thrilling”, and he is looking forward to starting this new chapter with a trusted ally by his side.

Cullen was an integral part of Hamilton's team from 2016 until their separation prior to the 2023 season, consistently supporting him during his dominant years with Mercedes. After taking a break from the sport, she has rejoined the British driver as he begins his multi-year contract with the historic Scuderia Ferrari.

“It’s always essential to have a solid support system around you,” Hamilton remarked, as quoted by Formula 1.com. “I’ve generally enjoyed a very strong foundation for many years, so I still have my team from last year, but I’ve brought Ange in as well. We have a fantastic relationship; we’ve known each other for a long time and have shared a lot together.”

Hamilton noted that Cullen took a couple of years off to reconnect with her family and travel, but she was eager to join him on this new journey. “Inviting her to embark on this new adventure with me and her acceptance was incredibly exciting, and we’ve had an amazing time together this past month,” he shared.

The Briton's transition to Ferrari represents one of the most significant changes in F1 history, and as he acclimates to his new environment, he is already enjoying the experience. When discussing his adjustment to Ferrari's culture, Hamilton expressed his excitement about wearing the iconic red.

“I think red suits me, so it’s great!” he beamed. “We tested a couple of outfits last year. Honestly, it’s a privilege to be a part of such a legendary team. Red symbolizes passion and love; the enthusiasm within this team, along with the support from the Tifosi, is immense.”

Hamilton also emphasized the distinct experience of being part of an organization where the racing and manufacturing teams are located under one roof. “At Ferrari, you have the car manufacturer as well, and we’re all under one roof. So when I walk to the wind tunnel, for example, I see various team members – not just those on the race team, but they contribute to the team’s success. It’s truly special to witness that daily,” he explained.

His integration into the Ferrari family has been seamless, with team members making a concerted effort to ensure he feels welcomed. “They’ve gone above and beyond to make me feel at home. Honestly, this past month has been the best – I’ve had an incredible time. It’s been exhausting, and we’ve been pushing hard, but this is the time to focus,” Hamilton noted.

“Everyone is focused on delivering their best performance, and so am I, ensuring that we put in our best effort every day.”
