Mumbai, Nov 25 (NationPress) Although he has stepped back from the international T20 format, Rohit Sharma, the only player to participate in all nine T20 World Cup editions, is eager to support the Indian team's preparations by sharing the insights he has gained over a remarkable 15-year career.
After leading India to its second T20 World Cup title in 2024 in the USA and Caribbean, and having initially clinched the title as a player in 2007, Rohit expressed his intention to engage with several T20 team members during the forthcoming ODI series against South Africa.
“I frequently meet these players (India T20 squad); I'm still active in the game. I'll be heading to Ranchi for the ODIs against South Africa, and I plan to connect with some of the players who will be part of the T20 setup,” Rohit mentioned during a panel discussion with India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav and Women’s World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur, alongside ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta at an event in Mumbai, where the complete schedule for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 was unveiled.
Rohit emphasized that players often exchange thoughts and he aims to delve into their mindset during these dialogues.
“Conversations among players are always happening, and I enjoy engaging, discussing, and understanding their thoughts,” stated the white-ball cricket icon, known for being the only player to score three double hundreds in ODI cricket.
Rohit assured that he is always open to offering advice when sought.
“I have consistently been that individual who’s available to provide insights if needed or to listen and explore possible solutions,” said Rohit, who was appointed the ICC Brand Ambassador for the upcoming Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
“However, these players have been performing remarkably well lately. I don’t believe there’s much that requires alteration. The final preparations will align closely with their matches against New Zealand, when they should finalize their playing XI or the squad of 15,” he added.
