There are eight teams divided into two groups of four, with each team scheduled to play three matches against other teams in their group. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.

In Group A, we have defending champions India, 2024 runner-ups South Africa, two-time champions West Indies, and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Group B consists of 2009 champions Pakistan, 2014 champions Sri Lanka, two-time winners England, and New Zealand.

In a video shared by Star Sports on Friday, renowned Test cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara selected India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand as his top four teams.

On the other hand, Mohammad Kaif chose India, South Africa, England, and New Zealand to advance further.

Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s leading wicket-taking spinner in T20Is, predicted that India, South Africa, England, and New Zealand would secure their spots in the top four. Former fast bowler Varun Aaron made a bold prediction, opting for India, West Indies, England, and Pakistan, notably excluding both South Africa and New Zealand.

Former coach Sanjay Banger shared some intriguing choices, favoring Pakistan, India, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. In contrast, former cricketer Saba Karim settled on India, South Africa, England, and Sri Lanka as his semi-finalists.

Due to the pre-seeding arrangements made prior to the tournament, all top teams from the group stage have ended up in Group A, while the second-placed teams reside in Group B.

India is set to kick off their Super 8s campaign on Sunday against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Their subsequent match will be against Zimbabwe on Thursday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
