Rosario (Argentina), May 30 (NationPress) The Indian junior women’s hockey team faced a challenging match, enduring a 1-3 loss in a shootout to Chile after a tightly contested 2-2 draw over four quarters during their fourth encounter in the friendly Four Nations Tournament on Friday.
Sukhveer Kaur (35’) and Kanika Siwach (47’) found the net for India, while Jacinta Solari (27’) and Captain Laura Muller (42’) scored for Chile.
Chile initiated the scoring in the second quarter with Jacinta Solari converting a penalty corner in the 27th minute. India responded five minutes into the third quarter, with Sukhveer Kaur also converting a penalty corner.
Chile reclaimed the lead in the 42nd minute with a field goal from Captain Laura Muller. Nevertheless, India showcased resilience in the fourth quarter, as Kanika Siwach extended her scoring streak by netting the equaliser in the 47th minute.
With neither team able to secure a win in regulation time, the match proceeded to a shootout, where Chile triumphed with a score of 3-1. Josefina Constanza Gutierrez, Isabel Leonor Messen, and Trinidad Antonia Barrios scored for Chile, while Sonam was the only scorer for India in the shootout.
