New Delhi, Sep 18 (NationPress) The India U19 men’s squad has participated in a rigorous training camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru in preparation for their upcoming multi-format series against Australia. The team, featuring some of the brightest young talents in the nation such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Ayush Mhatre, practiced various drills including running exercises, diving catches, and precise direct hit throws.
Additionally, technical enhancements on batting and bowling techniques were conducted under the guidance of experienced coaches at the CoE.
“The India U19 squad trained at the BCCI Centre of Excellence as they gear up for their tour of Australia. The camp emphasized the technical, physical, and tactical elements of the game, ensuring all-around preparedness,” stated the BCCI on their social media platforms on Thursday.
Captain Mhatre will lead the Indian team during their tour in Australia, kicking off with a 50-over match on September 21 at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane. Two additional 50-over matches are scheduled for September 24 and 26, followed by two four-day matches— the first at Ian Healy Oval starting September 30, and the second in Mackay commencing October 7.
Vihaan Malhotra, who participated in the U-19 tour of England, has been named vice-captain for the Australian trip. The squad features four adjustments from the England series, with Vedant Trivedi, Khilan Patel, Udhav Mohan, and Aman Chauhan replacing Maulyarajsinh Chavda, Pranav Raghavendra, Mohammed Enaan, and Yudhajit Guha (who is currently a standby).
India previously achieved a series sweep against Australia U-19 in both 50-over and multi-day formats during last year’s home series, and will strive to replicate that triumph down under. Yere Goud will serve as India’s head coach for the tour, supported by Rajib Datta (spin bowling coach), Debashish Mohanty (fast bowling coach), and Shubhadeep Ghosh (fielding coach).
