This talented team will compete across 14 weight categories, with seven categories designated for boys and seven for girls in the U-17 age division.
The boxing events at the Asian Youth Games will unfold at Exhibition World Bahrain Hall 9, featuring three-round bouts conducted in a single-elimination structure. Medal presentations are set for October 30, with the Closing Ceremony following on October 31.
The athletes recently concluded an intense training camp at NS NIS Patiala from September 23 to October 20, gearing up to face Asia’s elite competitors. The camp was dedicated to improving their technical, tactical, and physical conditioning under the guidance of Head Coaches Vinod Kumar (Boys U-17) and Jitender Raj Singh (Girls U-17), along with a committed support team of six additional coaches, two physiotherapists, and one doctor.
The selection of the squad was based on their performances at the 6th U-17 Junior Boys & Girls National Boxing Championships 2025. Gold medal winners gained direct entry into the team, while silver medalists were named as reserves.
This roster includes exceptional athletes from the Asian U-17 Championships held in July 2025, where India achieved an impressive total of 43 medals, securing second place overall and reinforcing the country’s growing prominence in youth boxing.
“Our young boxers have made remarkable strides in recent months, demonstrating their ability to compete with the best in Asia. Their participation in the Asian Youth Games will be crucial for their development into future medalists. They’ve put in the effort during the camp, and we have faith they’re prepared to showcase strong performances in Bahrain and continue India’s momentum in youth boxing,” stated Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India.
Notable team members include Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari, all gold medalists who play pivotal roles in India’s rise in youth boxing.
