New Delhi, May 21 (NationPress) After the Rajasthan Royals concluded their IPL 2025 journey on a positive note with a six-wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings, captain Sanju Samson expressed his delight regarding the temperament and strategic planning exhibited by the team’s young bowlers.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, bowlers Akash Madhwal and Yudhvir Singh Charak each took three wickets, allowing RR to limit CSK to 187/8. It was unexpected for RR to choose to chase again, especially after struggling in this aspect in the past eight out of nine attempts.
However, with the bowlers stepping up and Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring 57 runs, RR was able to overcome their past challenges with run chases in IPL 2025. “It feels good. Honestly, we debated whether to bat first and set a target. I chose to not hide from this game. I decided to chase and confront it head-on,” Samson remarked.
“Our bowling lineup is quite young. We are missing Jofra and Sandeep. Still, the temperament and strategic planning shown by the young bowlers is very encouraging. They have a promising future ahead,” he added.
“A lot of effort has been put in. Akash Madhwal has only participated in the last four matches. Shane Bond has been closely mentoring him. Rahul and the others have recognized his hard work. We’re thrilled for him,” said Samson during the post-match presentation.
The win brought some joy to RR, who managed only four victories this season. Samson himself missed several matches due to a side strain sustained in New Delhi on April 16. He assured that RR will return stronger after a comprehensive review.
“When observing the powerplay, the quality difference among teams is minimal. The margin for winning and losing is extremely tight. We need to reflect and conduct a thorough review. We certainly could have performed better. It’s not just about luck; we made some errors. We should return with an improved mindset for the next season,” he stated.
Suryavanshi emerged as one of the standout players for RR, earning high praise from Samson. “I can’t express how remarkable Vaibhav is. The century he scored was pure class. He can effortlessly hit a slower ball over cover. During the middle overs, he executed his role very intelligently. His game awareness at such a young age is commendable,” he said.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a brisk 36, also praised Suryavanshi and the bowlers who set up RR’s victory. “It was quite good; we were giving our all, and I really enjoyed it. There have been a few injuries within the team, and Sanju bhai returned after a few matches. This was a great game for us, and we will carry this confidence moving forward.”
“He (Suryavanshi) performed exceptionally well today; we’ve seen his skills throughout the tournament. Yudhvir and Madhwal bowled excellently as well. We have a clear plan for our bowling strategy. I encouraged them to follow their plans with a clear mind,” he concluded.
