Munich, July 30 (NationPress) Following his transfer to FC Bayern Munich, Luis Diaz extended his farewell to Liverpool fans, expressing that their league title victory in the 2024/25 season would have been the ideal send-off if it weren't for the heartbreaking loss of teammate Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
The Portuguese siblings tragically lost their lives in an accident, casting a shadow over the football community.
Diaz has inked a four-year contract with the German team, concluding his three-and-a-half-year journey at Anfield.
“These three and a half years will be cherished forever. I arrived filled with dreams and am departing proud of our accomplishments. I encountered remarkable individuals, fantastic teammates, coaches who guided me greatly, and extraordinary supporters. Liverpool is truly a unique club, and I will hold everyone close to my heart. The chapter closes here, and it’s fulfilling to reflect on how joyful we were,” said Diaz.
“It would have been a perfect farewell had we not lost one of our own in such a devastating manner. I carry all of you with me, especially Diogo. He will remain unforgettable. Thank you for everything. YNWA,” Diaz shared on Instagram.
Liverpool acquired him in January 2022, during which he made 148 competitive appearances, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists. He celebrated victories in the Premier League, FA Cup, FA Community Shield, and twice in the English League Cup.
Since 2018, Diaz has been a pivotal member of the Colombian national team, netting 19 goals in 64 international matches and finishing as the top scorer at the 2020/21 Copa America.
