Jodar Still on Top, But the Pack Closes In

Jodar remains the standout frontrunner, followed by second-placed Joao Fonseca and third-placed Martin Landaluce. Hot on their heels is Rei Sakamoto, who has surged to fourth place with 321 points after a breakthrough performance in New York.

The 19-year-old Japanese player won three rounds of qualifying at the US Open, including a notable victory over former World No. 4 Kei Nishikori — whom Sakamoto has described as his idol — before defeating Aleksandar Vukic in five sets to claim his first main-draw win at a Grand Slam. Sakamoto holds a nine-point advantage over fifth-placed Federico Cina and is aiming to make his Next Gen ATP Finals debut in December.

Cina's Career-High Ranking Underlines Italian Promise

Federico Cina, also 19, similarly came through qualifying to reach his first US Open main draw, though he fell to eventual quarter-finalist Alex Michelsen in the opening round. The Italian has nonetheless reached a career-high ranking of No. 168 in the PIF ATP Rankings and enters this week's ATP Challenger event in Guangzhou as the fifth seed.

His consistency across the season has kept him firmly in contention for a debut appearance at the Next Gen Finals, where he would represent one of Italian tennis's most promising young talents.

Schwaerzler, Kumstat and Dedura Also in the Hunt

Three more players are chasing their first Next Gen ATP Finals berths. Joel Schwaerzler sits sixth with 305 points, buoyed by his third Challenger title last month in Poland. Jan Kumstat is seventh with 283 points, while Diego Dedura is eighth on 279 points. All three have maintained their positions through strong Challenger-level performances and will look to add points before the qualification window closes.
