Shreeniti Chowdhury, Karnataka's 15-year-old fourth seed, blazed into the pre-quarterfinals of the KSLTA World Tennis Tour Junior J30 in Bengaluru on Tuesday, 1 September, dismantling Aniha Reddy Gavinolla 6-2, 6-0 at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium. The dominant display underlines a remarkable purple patch for the young Karnataka prospect.

Shreeniti's Stunning Turnaround

The match began tentatively for Shreeniti, a Class 10 student of DPS East School who trains at HLTA, as she fell 0-2 behind in the opening set. What followed was a masterclass in composure: she reeled off 12 consecutive games to seal the contest in emphatic fashion, leaving no doubt about her quality on the day.

The victory arrives just days after Shreeniti claimed the ITF J60 title in Hyderabad, where she upset fifth seed Savitha Bhubaneswaran 7-5, 6-1 in the final on Saturday. Earlier this year, she had also reached the quarterfinals of the J60 Gurugram, marking a consistent rise through the junior circuit.

Mahijeet Pradhan Produces Day's Biggest Upset

In the boys' draw, 17-year-old Mahijeet Pradhan of Maharashtra delivered the standout result of the day, knocking out fifth seed Pradnyesh Shelke 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Mahijeet dropped serve in the sixth and eighth games of the first set and appeared on the back foot, but he reset his game decisively in the second.

He broke early in the second set, moved to 5-2, and, despite a brief wobble, levelled the match. In the decider, he raced to a commanding 5-1 lead before Pradnyesh pulled one back, but Mahijeet held his nerve to close out the contest.

Top seed Tejas Ravi dispatched fellow Karnataka player Shreyanth Mahanthesha 6-3, 6-4, while Ishaan Badagi recovered from a set down to beat Atharva Sriramoju 5-7, 6-1, 6-0. Second seed Ahan Shetty survived a three-set battle against Rishi Yadav 6-2, 1-6, 6-4, and fourth seed Vivaan Mirdha eased past Chukka Lakshya Vardhan 6-2, 6-4.

Girls' Draw: Seeds Advance, Tejaswi Battles Through

In the girls' main draw, second seed Karthika Padmakumar progressed after Swasti Singh retired at 0-3, while sixth seed Vasundra Balajee led Avipsha Dehury 6-0, 2-0 when the latter retired. Seventh seed Tejaswi Manneni endured the toughest test of the round, edging out Samradnyee Dalvi 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 in a marathon three-setter.
