Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who have clinched the title three times, have signed Navdeep Saini as a replacement for the injured Harshit Rana in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans have brought in Kulwant Khejroliya to take the place of Prithviraj Yarra.
Rana sustained a ligament injury in his right knee during the T20 World Cup, which has further depleted KKR's bowling lineup. Other players like Akash Deep and Matheesha Pathirana are also sidelined due to injuries.
Saini, who has previously represented both the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has been brought in for Rs 75 Lakh. He has played 32 IPL matches and taken 23 wickets, along with matching figures in his international career for India.
The IPL announced, "Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) have opted for Navdeep Saini and Kulwant Khejroliya as replacements for IPL 2026."
Upon joining KKR, Saini expressed his excitement, saying, "Honestly, I feel fantastic. The essence of being a Kolkata Knight Rider is something special. I received the news last night, and I was initially at a loss for words on how to react. I have been working hard, and this opportunity seems like it was meant to be. I believe in God, and I kept my faith, which has brought me here, and I’m truly enjoying this moment."
He further mentioned, "I view this as a revival. My journey over the past few years has had its share of ups and downs, but I persevered with hard work, which led to this opportunity. I can confidently say that this is a significant revival for me."
On the other hand, Khejroliya, a left-arm pacer with 6 IPL wickets to his name, has previously played for GT, KKR, and RCB. He will join GT for Rs 30 lakh.
