Guwahati, Oct 3 (NationPress) England has won the toss and opted to bowl first against South Africa in the fourth match of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup taking place at the Barsapara Stadium this Friday. This match marks Heather Knight's 150th WODI for England, making her the second player from England after Charlotte Edwards to reach this significant milestone.
"We are choosing to bowl first. Our team prefers to make an early impact together. We are fielding two seamers and three spinners, along with all-rounders in our lineup. We feel confident about our batting strategy, and we aim to take wickets with our bowling," stated England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt during the toss.
"Heather brings a wealth of experience. She is only the second England Woman to play 150 ODIs, which is a remarkable achievement. It's fantastic to have her back, and I'll rely on her insights," she added.
Conversely, South Africa's captain Laura Wolvaardt commented, "The pitch appears slower than we initially expected. We're not opposed to batting first. If the wicket is indeed slower, we hope to set a solid score and defend it later. It's crucial for us to focus on one game at a time, starting with England this evening."
She further mentioned, "Our head coach has been incredible, emphasizing brave cricket and encouraging each player to excel. I hope everyone is energized and ready for today's match. Our team is well-balanced with four seamers and three spinners..."
