Dubai, March 2 (NationPress) In the Group A match between India and New Zealand during the 2025 Champions Trophy, renowned batsman Virat Kohli reached a significant milestone by becoming the seventh Indian men's player to participate in 300 ODI matches. He is also the 22nd player globally to achieve this prestigious feat in international cricket.

Unfortunately, the star batter's stay at the crease was brief, as he was dismissed by Matt Henry for just 11 runs. Kohli attempted a full-blooded cut shot, but Glenn Phillips made an incredible one-handed catch diving to his right at backward point, leaving both Kohli and his fans in shock.

As anticipated, his Indian teammates featured in a heartfelt video on bcci.tv, shared after India batted first against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium. “Virat bhai, heartfelt congratulations on playing 300 ODIs for India. May your journey be filled with discipline, dedication, and hard work. I wish for your continued success in representing India,” said wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami added, “Reaching 300 matches is a monumental achievement. We hope that your fitness and performance remain consistent over the years. May the cricket we’ve enjoyed with you continue to thrive. Best wishes!”

Kohli made his ODI debut for India in 2008 against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. Since then, he has accumulated over 14,000 runs, including a record-breaking 51 centuries—the most by any player. Kohli has also captained India in 95 ODIs, leading the team to a runners-up finish in the 2017 Champions Trophy and a semi-final appearance in the 2019 ODI World Cup.

Young left-arm fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh remarked, "You motivate not just me, but the entire world with your work ethics. I eagerly anticipate seeing you score a century in your 300th match and win many more games in the future.

Number four batsman Shreyas Iyer commented, “You have set a benchmark for many young players. I look forward to playing alongside you in numerous matches.”
