La Liga: Rodrygo Excluded from Real Madrid's Squad for Girona Encounter

Madrid, Dec 7 (NationPress) Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, who had returned to training on Friday after recovering from a left leg muscle strain, will not be part of the squad for the match against Girona due to a lingering muscle issue.

“Real Madrid travels to Girona for matchday 16 of La Liga this evening at Montilivi but they will do so without Rodrygo, Gonzalo, and Chema who have pulled out. Yanez has been called up in their place,” read the statement from Madrid.

Madrid has been significantly impacted by injuries, as they head into the match against Girona without the contributions of Rodrygo’s fellow Brazilian, Vinicius Jr, who is anticipated to return for the game against Atalanta.

The schedule offers no break for Real Madrid, who prepare for La Liga matchday sixteen aiming to secure their eleventh league victory against Girona, in what will be their second consecutive away fixture.

Ancelotti's squad is facing a challenging December as they embark on the third of seven games across three tournaments. On Tuesday, they return to Champions League action in Bergamo against Atalanta, and four days later, they will compete in their fourth straight away game at Estadio de Vallecas.

"It's a complicated game, but we must view it as an opportunity to return to winning ways," stated Carlo Ancelotti at the press conference prior to the trip to Girona.

The Italian coach has selected 21 players, including Bellingham. The English midfielder aims to continue his scoring streak, hoping to net his fifth consecutive league goal against Girona, adding to his previous goals against Osasuna, Leganes, Getafe, and Athletic Club.

Girona will commence La Liga matchday sixteen in eighth position, having gone four games unbeaten in the competition for the first time, with three of those matches resulting in victories.
