Perth, Oct 17 (NationPress) Australia’s all-rounder Cameron Green has been sidelined from the forthcoming ODI series against India due to side soreness, leading to the inclusion of Marnus Labuschagne as his substitute. The injury has been categorized as low grade, and Cricket Australia (CA) has taken a cautious stance considering Green's importance to their Ashes strategy.

Green will be absent from the three ODIs set for October 19, 23, and 25, but is anticipated to make a comeback for Western Australia’s next Sheffield Shield match starting October 28. The all-rounder recently resumed bowling in last week’s Shield match—his first outing since undergoing back surgery last year—where he captured a wicket in a four-over spell. CA confirmed that this current issue is not related to the surgery he had in October.

"Green will undergo a brief rehabilitation period and is on track to return for round three of the Sheffield Shield, which will aid in his preparation for the Ashes," CA stated earlier today.

Labuschagne returns to the ODI lineup while in remarkable form, having scored two of his four centuries for his domestic team, Queensland, in the 50-over format. He was initially overlooked for selection after poor performances in the home ODIs against South Africa in August, where he recorded scores of 1 and 1.

This is the third enforced adjustment to the Australian squad ahead of the series opener against India—Josh Philippe has taken the place of Josh Inglis, who is out due to a calf strain, while Matthew Kuhnemann has stepped in for Adam Zampa, who is unavailable for the first match due to family obligations.

From the second game onwards, Australia will have Zampa, Inglis, and Alex Carey ready to play.
