Kolkata, April 9 (NationPress) The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have secured the toss and opted to bowl first against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, taking place at Eden Gardens on Thursday. LSG remains unchanged in their playing XI, while Sunil Narine returns for KKR, replacing fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani, and Varun Chakravarthy continues to be sidelined due to injury.

Three-time champions KKR are struggling at the outset of this season. They faced a six-wicket defeat against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium and, upon returning home, encountered a heavy 65-run loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their most recent match against the Punjab Kings was called off due to rain, leaving them with just one point thus far.

Conversely, LSG has participated in only two matches up until now. Their campaign kicked off at home against the Delhi Capitals, where they initially appeared dominant, reducing the opposition to 26/4 while defending a modest target of 142. However, a match-winning performance from Sameer Rizvi turned the tide in favor of Delhi. LSG bounced back strongly in their following match, achieving their first victory of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad thanks to a disciplined and effective bowling performance, culminating in a five-wicket win, which provided a significant morale boost ahead of this match.

After winning the toss, LSG captain Rishabh Pant remarked, "We are looking to bowl first to put the opposition under pressure. We have faith in our bowlers to deliver a good performance. We emphasize being positive and maintaining intent. Winning brings happiness, and we are pleased to stick with the same team. Our top order is indeed strong, but we trust them to carry us through the entire innings. That's our objective here."

Following the toss loss, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane commented, "We wanted to bowl first as well. We have made one change, with Sunil coming in for Blessing, while Varun is still recovering from his hand injury. Once (Green) is ready to bowl, we will make adjustments to improve our combination, which is why Rovman Powell plays; with Cam Green in the lineup, we gain an extra bowler."
