Did Chambal Ghariyals Triumph Over Gwalior Cheetahs to Reach the Final?

Gwalior, June 24 (NationPress) The Chambal Ghariyals executed a remarkable run chase, overcoming the Gwalior Cheetahs by seven wickets (VJD Method) in the second semifinal of the Madhya Pradesh League 2025 held at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Stadium.

What initially seemed like a formidable target transformed into a display of fearless batting as seasoned player Harpreet Singh Bhatia unleashed a dazzling 61 off just 18 balls. Meanwhile, Tripuresh Singh remained not out at 30 off 11, propelling Chambal into the finals during their inaugural MPL season.

Batting first, the Gwalior Cheetahs amassed an intimidating score of 221/5 in their 20 overs. This innings was significantly boosted by a fierce 63 off 27 by Parth Chaudhary, who hit nine sixes in a breathtaking performance.

Captain Parth Sahani played a pivotal role, scoring an unbeaten 72 off 38 balls, with Vikas Sharma contributing 41 (28). Gwalior concluded their innings strongly with Mangesh Yadav finishing at 16 (4).

For Chambal, Tripuresh Singh and Aryan Pandey each took two wickets, but Gwalior's total appeared highly competitive.

Chambal’s innings began shakily as they lost Apurve Dwivedi early, finding themselves at 6/1 in 1.1 overs when rain interrupted. After a delay, the target was revised to 108 in 8 overs under the VJD method, a daunting task requiring over 13 runs per over.

Though Chambal lost Ankush Singh shortly after, this only paved the way for Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Tripuresh Singh to take charge, leading to a formidable partnership.

The duo forged an 85-run stand off just 25 balls, transforming the chase into a one-sided affair. Harpreet showcased his prowess with six fours and five sixes, while Tripuresh added three fours and two sixes of his own.

Chambal completed their chase in a mere seven overs, securing a seven-wicket victory and advancing to the final against the Bhopal Leopards.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy for the Chambal Ghariyals in their debut season. Meanwhile, the Chambal Ghariyals Women are also set to compete against the Bundelkhand Bulls Women in the MP Women’s League 2025 final, presenting the franchise with the opportunity to clinch both titles.

Player of the Match, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, remarked, “We had a clear strategy to play freely and contribute, regardless of the scale. With Tripuresh, we recognized his potential impact, so we promoted him in the order. The revised target was challenging; 108 in 8 overs is still tough, but I’m thrilled we achieved it.”
