Kolkata, June 24 (NationPress) Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh firmly dismissed any speculation regarding his departure from the party and the establishment of a new political outfit in the state.
His comments come amidst circulating reports suggesting he might launch his own party.
In a strong denial, Ghosh stated on Tuesday that there is absolutely no chance of him leaving the BJP, which he believes has established a robust foundation in West Bengal thanks to his leadership as the head of the party's state unit.
"I have played a pivotal role in the expansion of the BJP in West Bengal. The idea of creating a new party has never crossed my mind. The BJP's current standing in West Bengal is a result of enduring efforts. Our party is now well-equipped to realize the aspirations of the people of West Bengal. Therefore, there is no need for a new political entity in the state," Ghosh asserted on Tuesday.
For some time, Ghosh, who previously served as the Lok Sabha member from the Medinipur constituency in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal, has been notably absent from party events in the state.
He did not attend two significant rallies, one featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Alipurduar and another with Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah in Kolkata.
Reports indicate that tensions between Ghosh and the state party leadership escalated after he appeared at the inauguration of the Lord Jagannath Temple in Digha, East Midnapore district, alongside his wife.
Following videos of his friendly interaction with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the temple gaining traction online, numerous BJP supporters criticized Ghosh on social media, causing embarrassment for the state party leadership.
In light of these developments, several media reports have emerged regarding Ghosh potentially launching his own party in West Bengal ahead of the crucial Assembly elections scheduled for next year.
