Sharjah, Jan 16 (NationPress) After kicking off their International League T20 (ILT20) journey with an exciting victory, the Sharjah Warriorz faced a setback against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. They are now eager to return to their winning form in their inaugural home match at the Sharjah Stadium.

While chasing a target of 160 on a challenging pitch, the Warriorz fell short by 30 runs at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne provided the Warriorz with a strong start, claiming two wickets in his opening spell and concluding the match with impressive figures of 2-37. Milne posed numerous challenges for the ADKR batters.

Reflecting on his team’s bowling performance and the pitch conditions, he remarked, “I believe we didn’t finish our bowling as strongly as we intended. The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders bowled exceptionally well. The conditions still had some movement in the second innings, making batting challenging. Early wickets hampered our scoring and created a tough situation towards the end.”

As the tournament is still in its early stages, the Sharjah Warriorz, having commenced Season 3 with confidence, are focusing on one match at a time. Their next challenge awaits at their home ground.

Milne emphasized this philosophy, underscoring the necessity of winning as many matches as possible.

“Winning as many games as possible is crucial in any tournament. While you aim to win every match, it’s not always feasible. We achieved a solid win in a close contest recently. With a couple of matches coming up in Sharjah, securing victories will place us back on track,” he stated.

The Sharjah Warriorz will compete in their next two matches against the Dubai Capitals on Friday and MI Emirates on Sunday at their iconic home ground, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Anticipating the chance to play before their local supporters, the New Zealand international added, “We’re all eager to take the field for our first game at home. We hope our fans will show their support and help us secure a win in the upcoming days.”
