Nahid Rana Reflects on His First Five-Wicket Haul in Test Cricket

Kingston (Jamaica), Dec 3 (NationPress) Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana stated that his main focus was on denying any opportunities to the West Indian batsmen during the third day of the second Test, successfully bowling out the home team for 146 runs on Tuesday.
Nahid, participating in his sixth Test match, achieved impressive bowling figures of 5-61 in 18 overs, giving Bangladesh a significant advantage in the match even after they were bowled out for 164 in their first innings. At stumps, Bangladesh had a lead of 211 runs, finishing the day at 193/5 with Jaker Ali (29 not out) and Taijul Islam (9 not out) at the crease.
Previously, Bangladesh's captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shadman Islam contributed vital scores of 42 and 46, respectively. Despite trailing 1-0 in the series, the touring team showcased an exceptional performance with both bat and ball, taking command of the match.
Nahid was instrumental in instigating a significant collapse for the West Indies, as the hosts lost their last nine wickets for a mere 61 runs, concluding their innings at 146.
"Alhamdulillah (for my first five-wicket haul). I didn’t attempt too many things; my strategy was to see how I could bowl without providing room for the batters and adapt to different match situations," Rana commented post-match.
"I believe that on this pitch, if you maintain a consistent line and avoid giving batters any room, they will eventually try various shots."
Rana expressed his belief that setting a target of 250 runs would significantly enhance their chances of leveling the series.
"I feel we are in a favorable position, and if we can surpass 250, batting on Day 4 will be challenging for the batsmen due to uneven bounce and spin that will assist the bowlers," the pacer concluded.
