New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) Forward Navneet Kaur of the Indian women’s hockey team shared her delight upon receiving the esteemed Hockey India Balbir Singh Sr. Award for Player of the Year (Women) during the Hockey India 8th Annual Awards 2025 ceremony held in New Delhi on Friday.

Navneet Kaur has had an exceptional year, establishing herself as one of India’s most reliable attacking players. She played a crucial role in helping India secure a Silver medal at the recent FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Hyderabad, where she emerged as the third-highest goal scorer with four goals and was named Player of the Tournament.

Furthermore, Navneet was key to India’s success at the Women’s Asia Cup 2025, where the team also earned a silver medal, with her scoring six goals throughout the competition. She also celebrated a major personal achievement by reaching 200 international caps, showcasing her experience and dedication at the top level.

In the past year, Navneet Kaur consistently excelled in high-stakes tournaments, delivering vital goals and driving the team’s attacking efforts, solidifying her status as an essential part of India’s forward lineup.

After receiving the award, Navneet Kaur remarked, “I’m genuinely honored to be recognized as Player of the Year. Our training camp will commence soon, and while we are pleased with our last tournament’s performance, we recognize the need for improvement in certain areas. Our focus is now on addressing those gaps and enhancing our team’s overall performance.”

On her personal aspirations, Navneet emphasized her dedication to continual growth, stating, “I will be concentrating on improving my individual performance. Although I’m pleased with my accomplishments thus far, I see potential for further development. There are significant tournaments that occur only once every four years, and I’m committed to giving my utmost to help secure strong results for the team.”
