New Delhi, Sep 19 (NationPress) Indian javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra expressed his regret after finishing eighth in the men's final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, acknowledging that the outcome was not in line with his expectations for concluding the season.
Chopra, who was the reigning champion heading into Tokyo 25 after securing gold in Budapest two years prior, achieved a disappointing best throw of 84.03m at Japan's National Stadium, landing him in eighth place. This marked the first instance since the 2018 Continental Cup in Czechia, where he placed sixth, that he finished outside the top three.
"This isn't how I envisioned ending the season at the World Championships in Tokyo. I aimed to give my all for India despite the hurdles, but it simply wasn't my night," the two-time Olympic medallist shared in an Instagram update.
